Australia and New Zealand Publish November 2024 Peppol Updates
Australia and New Zealand publish A-NZ v1.0.12 and PINT A-NZ v1.1.0 updates, aligning with BIS Billing 3.0.18 and introducing new compliance and identifier rules effective March 2025.
As part of the transition toward Peppol PINT, the Australian and New Zealand Peppol Authorities have released updated A-NZ Invoice and Self-Billing specifications v1.0.12 and PINT A-NZ v1.1.0.
The updates support a smoother migration path as both countries phase out legacy specifications and move toward PINT alignment.
BIS Billing 3.0 and eProcurement BIS
OpenPeppol released Peppol BIS Billing v3.0.18 on 18 November 2024.

- Related validation artefacts and documentation have been revised
- All changes become mandatory from 17 February 2025
- Peppol eProcurement BIS can be used in Australia and New Zealand without localization
A-NZ Invoice and Self-Billing Specifications v1.0.12
The updated A-NZ v1.0.12 specifications align with BIS Billing v3.0.18 and include:
- Updated code lists
- Revised validation artefacts
- Specification refinements
These changes become effective from 10 March 2025.
PINT A-NZ Billing and Self-Billing v1.1.0
The updated PINT A-NZ v1.1.0 specification also becomes effective from 10 March 2025.
This release continues the structured migration toward PINT as the sole supported standard in the region.
Further Amendments
New compliance rules have been introduced for the use of sender and receiver identifiers within the Peppol Business Message Envelope (SBDH). These rules apply across all post-award documents, including:
- A-NZ Invoice and Self-Billing extensions
- PINT A-NZ specifications
In addition:
- Support for the Busdox Document Type Identifier Scheme has been removed
- Receiving capabilities will shift to the Wildcard Document Type Identifier Scheme
- This change takes effect when the Peppol Policy for Use of Identifiers v4.3.0 enters into force
Updated guidance documentation has also been published to support implementation and alignment with PINT A-NZ.
These releases represent another significant step in Australia and New Zealand’s structured migration toward full PINT adoption and long-term interoperability within the Peppol network.
