UAE VAT on Imports
Imported goods attract 5% VAT at the point of entry.
Imported goods attract 5% VAT at the point of entry. A VAT-registered importer whose TRN is linked to its customs code defers payment through the reverse charge in its VAT return rather than paying at customs; non-registered importers pay at customs before release. Imported services are accounted for by the registered recipient under the reverse charge. Imports into a designated zone follow separate rules.
