ZUGFeRD
A hybrid German invoice format that embeds EN 16931-conformant XML (CII syntax) in a PDF/A-3 document, readable by both people and machines; from the EN 16931 profile upward it qualifies as an E-Rechnung.
A hybrid invoice format developed by the Forum elektronische Rechnung Deutschland (FeRD): a PDF/A-3 document with an embedded EN 16931-conformant XML file (CII syntax), readable by humans and machines alike. From profile EN 16931 upward (and XRechnung profile) it qualifies as an E-Rechnung for B2B purposes; the Basic and Minimum profiles do not. It is technically identical to the Franco-German Factur-X, which makes it a natural choice for businesses invoicing in both countries.
