Oman Resumes Work on National E-Invoicing Framework
Oman restarts its e-invoicing initiative as the Tax Authority signs an infrastructure agreement with Omantel, signalling renewed progress and upcoming regulatory updates.
The Oman Tax Authority (OTA) has taken a key step toward reviving its e-invoicing program by signing an agreement with Oman Telecommunications Company (Omantel) to provide the underlying e-invoicing infrastructure.
Oman had initially planned to introduce e-invoicing in 2024, but the rollout was later postponed without a revised timeline. The agreement signed in May 2025 signals that the project is now back in motion.
This strategic partnership lays the groundwork for a national e-invoicing ecosystem. While OTA has not yet released full details, further announcements are expected to cover:
- The CTC or clearance model to be adopted
- Implementation timelines
- Technical and compliance specifications
Based on this development, it is increasingly unlikely that the earlier anticipated early-2026 timelines will remain unchanged. Businesses operating in Oman should monitor upcoming OTA communications closely as the framework takes shape.
