On February 9, 2024, Singapore released an updated version of the Peppol Interoperability Naming and Technical Standard for Singapore (PINT-SG), along with a detailed implementation timeline for adoption across the Peppol network.

The first version of the PINT-SG BIS Billing general data model introduces new capabilities that differ from the existing SG BIS Billing 3.0 standard.

Key New Features in PINT-SG

The following enhancements have been introduced:

  • cbc:IssueTime. An optional field to capture the exact time an invoice is issued
  • cac:InvoiceLine / cac:OrderLineReference / cac:OrderReference / cbc:ID. Enables referencing multiple purchase order numbers at the individual item line level

These changes improve invoice traceability and alignment with procurement workflows.

PINT and PINT-SG Implementation Timeline

High-level phases

  • July 2023. Phase-in
  • February 2024. Solution uplift
  • January 2025. Switch-over
  • March to July 2025. Phase-out of legacy formats

Detailed Adoption Schedule

2024. PINT Preferred

  • Between February and October 2024. All Access Points must upgrade to support PINT in both sending and receiving
  • Between February and December 2024. All service providers and companies must upgrade to support PINT in both directions
  • PINT receiving capability will be enabled progressively as connections are upgraded, with bulk upgrades for solution providers
  • Domestic PINT transactions may begin on an optional basis if both parties agree

2025. PINT Mandatory

  • Between January and March 2025. All parties should send invoices in PINT by default, with SG BIS 3.0 allowed as a fallback
  • From March 2025. SG BIS 3.0 will start to be removed from the Peppol network

These updates mark a key step in Singapore’s transition toward a fully standardized and interoperable Peppol-based e-invoicing framework.
