UAE Moves Closer to Peppol-Based E-Invoicing by July 2025
The UAE plans to introduce a Peppol-based national e-invoicing system by July 2025, aiming to automate tax reporting, improve compliance, and digitize invoicing processes.
The UAE Ministry of Finance (MoF) has shared further details on its upcoming e-invoicing mandate, confirming plans to introduce a nationwide electronic billing system aligned with Peppol specifications, with implementation targeted for completion by July 2025.
The initiative, referred to as the “E-Billing System” project, aims to modernize invoicing and tax processes across the UAE. The system is expected to introduce a Peppol-based CTC model, covering both e-invoicing and e-reporting requirements at a countrywide level.
Key objectives of the project include:
- Simplifying business invoicing workflows
- Enhancing tax reporting and compliance
- Providing real-time economic insights to authorities
- Reducing paper-based processes and manual errors
- Supporting automated tax return filing and reducing tax evasion
The rollout will follow a phased approach, allowing businesses and service providers time to adapt. Once fully implemented, the system is expected to play a central role in the UAE’s broader digital tax transformation strategy.
